Pork chops pounded flat, lightly breaded and fried, topped with Black Forest ham, sauteed peppers and onions, and a cream sauce over the top. Chive mashed potatoes and red and white cabbage. While that sounds great, I have to say I've never seen anything like it before. Do you know what part of Germany they are from ?

The whole restaurant is a shrine to the old country and it has a real German beer hall feel to it. Jason, you get down there much?

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | My grandmother turned in her grave when peppers in traditional German cuisine was mentioned. Sounds darn good to me, though.

Location: Sawyer County, WI | It sounded odd to me too, but the vast majority of my time spent in Germany was either in Bavaria or Baden-Wurttemberg. Heck, there are noticeable differences in cuisine between northern and southern Bavaria so I don't find it too surprising. The proximity to France probably plays into it as well. Still, I'm in. Thanks for the recommendation Moltisanti.

Not many authentic German Gast Haus's in USA. Love the food from all the regions! Most of my experience was Bavaria, but traveling the world post military, German Zigeuner nice tryzel is still a favorite... I'll have to try theirs! Pretty funny website translates (nice tryzel) as nice tryzel = LOL! maybe nice tryzelllllllll works Have fun! Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 7/28/2015 10:41 PM

Posts: 654 Location: MPLS, MN | I'm surprised so many people like their American corn lager with all the options these days. Thats one of the main reasons they are so cheap. I like my beers just malt, yeast, water, and hops. If I have to pay a few extra bucks a 6 pack that's fine with me. Schell's Fire Brick is a great Amber lager, Stone Go To IPA and Mirror Pond Pale Ale are a few of my favorites. Good tasting session able beers.

Posts: 136 Location: Chicago | Presidents liquor 3824 E 2nd St. In Superior as you make your way north along 53. Just got back from our adventure decent 7 fish week despite treacherous heat and winds with a couple 4'ers the highlight. I found Spotted Cow to be an easy drinking ale not terribly hoppy and not citrusy at all. Would definatly get some more next time through and would recommend trying it out if craft beer is your sort of thing. Probably the most appealing thing is you can't get it outside of wisconsin so pick some up and stick a big one.

Posts: 239 Location: Madison, WI | Point nude beach is a great summer beer. Flavorful but not overpowering. Refreshing and not too sweet. Plus they don't get old after a few or 10... granted im a stout and porter fan
