I use a predator X heavy 9 foot teamed up with a Tranx PG perfect for 8s for 10s it's a little light in the tip if I do it again I'll have 2 inches cut off the tip. For 13 s I use my pounder set up a 9 foot 8 inch predator XX Heavy with a Tranx HG |

This. 9 ft. The new 9'6 or 10 ft coming out soon might be even better. Pair it with a tranx pg if you can afford it. Handles pounders fine too. |

Tackle Industries (TI) will have the new 9'6", 10' and 10'6" MH, XH and XXH rods out end of August. Got a few guides out there that have been testing the crap out of them and also have some customers who have a few of the prototypes that are using them now. Great results so far!! |

| Depends what you want to spend. I have a Shock and Awe, TI 9' XXH and XH, Sling Blade, Big Dawg, Big Nasty and 8' Premiers in XH and H. All them are great but the Big Nasty is my go to for 9s & 10s. |

| I love casting them on the sling blade, but i find it feels a bit soft during the 8, but here in Europe we don't do a lot of figure 8, as our big pikes rarely gets that far, so i use my sling blade. spend 9 days on leech lake, and there i really likes the Big Dawg, as i felt i had way more control in the 8. |

| Lots of different options. I have a new 9' footer coming from Dadson rods. They have a new synthetic handle material that is pretty cool and extremely light. |

Location: Northern Illinois | I also like the Predator/Tranx setup but changed rods after feeling them both out. Started with a 9'3 XH Predator which I liked but once I got a 9'0 XXH Predator it was clearly the correct rod. The XH bends a little too much compared to the XXH and I would go back. Tranx makes you feel like your reeling nothing in and paired with a XXH and not much bend it is easy effort wise! |

| Of all the rods I've fished , Big Nasty has been the best for this application in my opinion. I'm a St Croix guy so I cant recommend anything I've never fished with out there. I do strongly believe and have learned to get what you want and will enjoy vs. trying to save some coin. Even if it means having 2 rods vs. 3 or 4. Their is nothing worse than spending a $ and in the end you spend 3 instead of 2. |

I completely agree with this. And if someone doesn't want, or have the budget, to spend for the Legend Big Dawg, the St. Croix Premeire Series 8-6" in XH is the "same rod" in the Premiere Series. It's my favorite all around rod. I have 3 Legend Tournaments, and 2 Premiere...for my money I'll take the Premiere. |
