Looking for opinions on these two as a bucktail reel. It could be paired with a big nasty, sling blade or predator xh I have already.
I'm using a lexa 400 on a sling blade for big blades about 80% of the time, too soft a tip for some, but I like it. As for the lexa I'm not impressed. Every other rod I have is paired with a TE or LJV
I've used a tranx, but just thought it was too big. I'd get used to it if I had to but was interested in the new conquest.
I'm not buying any of the new abu's or lexa's and price doesn't matter.
Thoughts?

The new conquest is not made for big blades or really big lures. It is a neat reel, but with what you are looking to do the tranx would be best.

Tranx for sure... Conquest would be a great all around reel, but not for big blades.

OK, thanks guys. I figured as much.
How about swapping the tranx handle to an LJV handle, and vise versa? I know people like the LJV handle on the tranx, but will the tranx handle be OK on a TE or LJV?

I put a LJV handle on my tranx PG because the tranx handle would slip out of my hand, was not a good fit for me. I just bought the handle for like $30 from Dave's reel service.

Tranx handle is too wide to fit on the TE shaft, would need to be recessed. but even if it fit The weight of the handle would almost certainly engage the TE's during the cast

May as well see if you like the tranx handle on the tranx first anyway.

Honestly I'd try the stock tranx handle before upgrading it. That reel is a powerhouse stock.

I agree, I put the LJV in the short setting to keep it the same length as the stock handle. It is just a common problem to have the tranx knob slip through hands. Just an odd shape:-)

Thanks for the replies guys.
As for the handle ,I felt the tranx handle had too large of a knob for really cranking. I have shimano power handles on most all my reels. I just was wondering if I took off an LJV handle I may be able to repurpose the tranx handle. (Sounds like a bad idea). I've got a trip coming up so I'll just get another handle in case I want to change it out.

Done. I bought both, along with two LJV handles. I put the PG on a sling blade , HG on a predator xh.
Four more days, thanks again!
