Going into my first fall musky fishing and really want to hook up on a hog on a sucker rig.

Would really appreciate some advice. How deep do you go? How deep do you set your suckers? For example say I'm in 20ft of water, my sucker should be at 15? 10? 5 feet?

Obviously the best thing to do is find where the fish are and try to change it up until you catch one... I think. But where would you start?

Like I said, first fall and am curious for some help. Also plan on trolling and throwing big rubber this fall.

Mainly hit metro area in White Bear Lake area, but with cold water rolling in also hit French in southern part of state.

Anything helps, thanks a ton.

With 1 line per angler, how many people in your boat? If multiple people, all suckers or suckers and casting? You can run them vertical, begin the boat on a bobber, troll them both ways. Knowing more details would narrow down your strategy.

1-3 people in the boat. I guess it would depend what the bite is on. Mainly trying to get advice on the sucker rigging in terms of deep do you run your suckers below the boat?

Also just making sure i am reading it right, the maximum distance my last hook on the rig can be is 9 inches? I'm in MN. In this case I am best off running a nose band and two trebles over the hook in the lip technique? Assuming that as long as my hooks aren't more than 9 inches apart I am legal running the nose band.

Thanks again
