There is another thread that talks about camera positions and it spun off with a lot of good product info. Just wanted to start a separate thread for those of us with GoPros and talk about the accessories we use. I have (had and just reordered) a Hero 3+ Silver. I really like the Flex Jaw mount from GoPro. I also use the Wasabi extended life battery that comes with the extra camera back. Any other good ones I'm missing out on?

Thanks!

Sounds like some need the floating accessory.

I think the floating accessory is really nice. I am wondering if anyone uses a so called "selfie stick" for a gopro to take pictures of them and the fish when its only you in the boat. I haven't had an issue yet this year but I do tend to fish a lone and was wondering how people are going about taking pictures with their fish.

Use a flex jaw mount and use the video+photo mode for taking pictures by yourself.

I had the floaty back door on mine when it sank into Lake St Clair. The Flex Jaws were too much for the little float. I am going to attach a boga float to my next one.

Also what is the video + photo mode?

Photo + video will record a video and take a picture at whatever interval you want.

I too have the Pelican case. Mine is a 1200 model and its perfect for the camera, batteries, cards, and charger. 100% waterproof so no worries in a downpour. Jaws flex clamp is really nice. I have the suction cup mount but should have saved my money since I have never used it. Head mount is by far my preferred method even over pole mount. I find having to cast in the same direction to get video is stupid (multiple cameras would cure this problem). I have the floaty back door but don't use it because I thought I watched a youtube video once where the floaty would not hold up a camera with the headstrap. If anybody has had their camera float with the headstrap please let me know. Wasabi batteries and chargers have served me well also.

Can you actually wear the camera on your head with the floaty back door? I'm trying to picture this, but can't stop laughing.

I have never tried it but it could only make you look cooler than you already do wearing the camera lol

Tested my new Hero4 silver this week. Other than a fatal hardware issue that reduces the sound to a helicoptor taking off when using the wifi app(GoPro knows about it and is replacing the ones with the issues), it is pretty darn cool. I'll just have to use it without the wifi phone app while on my trip the next couple of weeks which is fine until I can return it.

Does anyone use an external microphone to get better sound?

How many hours of video do you get on a 64 gig card at your prefferred settings?

I can see myself really enjoying this rig, once I get used to it.

Thanks for posting your preferences. As a POV rookie, I'm gleaning all that I can from folks here.

Yeah they are addicting. The simpler the better, so I wouldn't even mess with an external mic. When using the open back plate you can get some great sound. I got some reels blowing up while trolling, the rips sound awesome.

Reef Hawg, here is a link from GoPro on the recording time in different settings. http://gopro.com/support/articles/hero4-silver-recording-time-in-ea...
I usually delete the file if my battery needs changing and we haven't had any action. I used to use loop mode where it would start recording over old data if you didn't hit the start/stop button. One can set the loop interval at 5, 10 and 20 min I believe. That would help to not fill your card either...

Another thing to help inform on would be the setting in which everyone records...
I use 720p Wide angle for the majority of my filming, especially when its on my head. I have started using now Wide angle for some in water shots and pictures.
What are the rest of you using?
