Posts: 386 | I recently picked up an 8" Weagle after all the hype I hear about them. I've long been an advocate of the jackpot and I've found the weagle I bought to nose dive under the water if I start working it too quickly. Is this a common occurrence and is there any modifications I can make to keep it on top while working it faster? I don't mind working a WTD slower but it's quite a bit slower than I run my jackpots. I love the action and noise at slow speeds but would like to pick the pace up at times, if possible. Thanks in advance fellas.

Need to make sure the boat is moving towards the bait and not moving away and pulling the line tight. This is also one of the few baits I like to use a solid wire leader on - it seems to make it walk the dog better. Slowing down will also help. I have the Mojo Weagles, which I think are pretty much the same as the new Suick Weagles. I never really have a problem with them going nose down, even if I work them fairly fast (though they trigger fish much better working slow). If you have an old Cady one that likes to dive, those are supposed to be the really good ones, though a bigger pain to work. If you don't like it, you could probably sell a Cady Weagle for a pretty good price on here.

Posts: 386 | Thanks guys. I noticed the first cast it definitely needs slack in the line, and more of a snapping motion compared to a GJP. It was pretty choppy the day I threw it so keeping slack while maintaining boat control was difficult. I'll try it again on a calmer day when I can slow the boat down a bit. Thanks again.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Responses are spot on, the Mojo and Suick all will run about the same and shouldn't nose under. Unlike many WTD baits the nose is supposed to stay in the water and the lure pivots on the center instead of on the tail. This can create some problems with diving if you're not patient enough with one of the old maple baits. The rod can make a difference too, they like a stiff rod. Pepper - 7/21/2015 2:31 PM What do you suppose and never fished "Cady " weagle would sell for? Depends completely if it's maple. If it's an original unused maple, especially a color that was limited, you'll get $50 pretty easily. I took one of my unused originals off the shelf this summer and within the first 15 minutes in the water a 48 was in the net.

Posts: 349 | Definitely a different bait than a jackpot and needs to be worked differently. Slow down and lots of slackline needed. A couple years ago I went like 0-15 on a jackpot so I got rid of it and picked up a Cady weagle. I struggled working the weagle so it mostly sat in box until this year when I forced myself to slow down and learn to use it right. Now I'm 2-2 on the weagle, both fish came almost entirely out of the water on the strike but still got 2 of the 3 trebles in the mouth. Picture is of my first weagle fish. If its nose diving your moving it to fast on a tight line. You can walk it pretty quick but you have to have slack. A heavier hook on the back and a light leader helps as well.

Posts: 157 | I find I can work it faster and keep the nose higher if I jerk up or to the side rather than down Additional slack helps too as stated All that being said, I find it not all bad if the nose dives occasional or if part of the cast it is subsurface
