Location: Detroit River | Has anyone ever had a reel seat loosen up to where it rotates around the rod blank? I was out fishing Saturday evening & as I was casting I felt what I thought was the handle move but ended up being the reel seat rotating around the rod blank. The rod is a 9' TI MH 1-piece that I have as a backup so it hasn't had much use up until this season due to my jigging rod breaking on a snag. I guess I'll make this rod a winter project & strip the blank down & upgrade the reel seat & guides. Not sure if I should even waste my time with it though. |

| Drill a small hole under where the reel would set and use a syringe to fill the void with epoxy. A common repair. |

Had to do this to my Big Dawg. |

| If you do this, be sure to go slow and not hit the blank with the bit. Maybe give James a call or email at T.I.? He may have a suggestion for you as well... |

Location: Detroit River | I ended up drilling some small holes (using a Dremel) in the reel seat both on top were the reel sits & directly under plus a couple on the underside near the fore grip. I used 5 min Loctite Instant mix epoxy that I injected into each hole. I used some masking tape on the cork & reel seat to mark were the center was then rotated the reel seat & injected the epoxy in all the holes then rotated it in the opposite direct & injected more epoxy. I rotated the reel seat back forth a few times to spread out the epoxy then returned it to center. I've used the rod twice now since the fix & it's holding up good. |
