Location: Madison, WI | Hi guys,
Heading to Forest Lake, MN (Washington County) to visit my nephews for 4th of July weekend. I promised to take them out fishing for panfish and pike so that we can have a fish fry.
Just taking a canoe along, so prefer to find smaller bodies of water for this purpose. They had suggest Forest Lake, which is 2200 acres. I'm wondering if anybody has any other suggestions for lakes in the area that might be a bit smaller.
I prefer smaller lakes when fishing out of the canoe. I don't know that area at all, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Smaller size body of water, with good action for panfish, pike, and maybe bass also.
Thanks in advance for any info!

Location: varies | Linwood lake is not too far from forest. Used to catch many good sized pike , a few walleyes and big crappies out of it a few years back. I dont recall it being good for bass though. |

Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | If you're willing to give up fishing for muskies there are some lakes around Lindstrom/Chisago City that have bass, pike, walleye in them that you could fish out of a canoe. Clear Lake and Lindwood would be an option, I agree. Get in touch with Frankie's Bait in Chisago City for more info. |
