I have heard that I need to itemize all medicines, snacks and foods. Also are there foods that can't be brought into Canada. Thank you in advance.

Produce, raw chicken and eggs are the only things I'm aware of. I've never itemized...but it can't hurt to bring your grocery shopping receipts.

Was turkey (processed, as in sandwhich meat) an issue with the bird flu going on in MN?

Just crossed in to Canada a few weeks ago.
They ask all the same questions as last year with the exception this year about "food....meats, poultry etc). Nothing else. If you have any chicken etc....answer "yes"...in some sandwiches etc....and let THEM tell you what they need to know. No need to make lists etc.

Don't overcomplicate your life.....answer their questions directly, and truthfully without extra info and you'll get in no problem. They are pretty cooperative.

Short honest answers are always your best best when crossing the border.

Glenn:

As mentioned poultry products (eggs, raw chicken, or turkey) can't be bought into Canada (Avian flue problems). Cooked poultry products are O.K. (sandwich meat, etc.), but must available for inspection and be able to prove they aren't raw. I go through Customs very often and have never been asked for an itemized list of food or medications.

Thanks everyone for all the information. Doug, good to hear from you again, hope you are still finding the "long ones".
