Subject: Reel problem

I havent heard of this before but I figure I might as well ask. Has anyone ever had a problem with the weld between the reel frame and the piece that fits into the real seat breaking??? Cause I got a older abu garcia two speed 5600, where the damn thing just busted off? If so how did you get it fixed. Im pretty sure there isnt a warranty but woudl the factory possibly fix it, or does someone have an old one of these (that has a good frame) that they would be willing to get rid of cheap?? I figure if nothign else i can just swap out the guts, cause they are all still good. Great things to happening right when its getting hot huh?? oh well, any thanks will be greatly appreciated.

I have had the same thing happen to a 6501 once.  There is no fix except to replace the entire frame.  If it's not under warranty I'd call Chuck Brod at Sportsman Repair in Mosinee, WI- he'll sell you another frame.

I would send it back to the factory in Iowa, this should not have happened and my quess is that they will fix it under warranty regardless of it's age as long as the rest of the reel is not beat to he$%. Even if they do charge you it won't be any more than a private shop would charge - probably less.
