| Just purchased a Lexa 300 HS and tried it out today for the first time. I clicked the drag down all of the way and can pull the line easily off the spool. I caught a small pike when I was playing around with it and it peeled drag on me. Am I missing something or did I not put enough mono backing on first? I really like the reel I just want the drag to lock down like it should. Any body have this same experience with this reel? |

| It seems like something is not set up right, with my drag locked down I can barely pull line out without it digging into the spool or my hand. I just had an upper 40's take a dive at the boat and it straightened a hook and got off (I know I have to work on tension management...).
How much mono backing did you put on?
Can you tell if the whole spool slipping or if it is the actual drag slipping?
FYI I Have a 300 HSL-P. |

Location: NE Ohio | i have to ask......did you put mono on your reel first for backing? could be the braided line slipping on the spool. |

| I had the exact same problem last week, lost a really nice fish. I removed my lure and leader and free spooled the line behind the boat until I was into the backing. Drove for a few minutes then reeled it in with just the resistance of the line. Retied and it was night and day. Loving my Lexa now! |
