| My Saltist is super fast and I loved it but I hated no auto engage. Was awkward to free spool. I had a 400 TE and it is smooth but it was exhausting to burn 10s all day. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Two different reels for different applications imo. I own both and use the Calcutta as an all around reel and use the Saltist for throwing swimbaits. The saltists downfall is that it doesn't have a spool brake, so this can lead to more backlashes then one would like when throwing lighter baits, like bucktails. The saltist is imo the best value out there when it comes to a dedicated swimbait reel, no need to spend $500 on a Tranx when this works just as well for half the price. |
