Hey all,
Have finally decided on getting an 899 SI unit and the Ipilot link.

Quick question, how long is the Ethernet cable that comes with the Ipilot link? Wondering if I'll need to purchase an extension.

I know I'll need the Lakemaster chip, but are there any other accessories you can think of that make life easier with these things?

Finally, where is the cheapest place to buy these units or should I just go with the big box retailers?

Thanks for the assist!

I had mine installed so I can't help you with the wether or not you need a extension. As for where to buy I get my gear from Thorn Bros. I deal with the owner all ways gives me the best price I'll shop around get a good price but I all ways end up buying from Thorn Bros. Shop around if store x selling for this much go see if store z will beat it don't hesitate to ask for a better deal.

When I got my new terrova with link it came with a 20 foot cable. The best prices & service I found for Humminbird is universal maina they have lakemaster chips also. They should have the I pilot link also.

I needed a dongle to link my bird to my ipilot terrova. I do not have a I pilot link but I am guessing you need one for that. If you are linking graphs that will require a linking cable and dongle's.

You may want a mount for your graph. The standard mounts don't have very many positions. I bought the cisco mounts but RAM makes some nice ones too.

Some of the imaging ducers don't read depths once you get up over about 10 MPH. I am not sure if the 899 has that issue. If it does and you want depth readings above 10 MPH you need to get a y-cable and install a separate fast speed ducer.

If you think you may change graphs or add another graph at some point in the future you may want to get a mounting plate for your ducer. That way you are drilling into the mounting plate when you switch/add ducers instead of drilling new holes into your boat.

As for the cheapest place, personally I like to buy local, especially with expensive items. Having to deal with an online retailer if you have an issue will be a pain. Go to your local bait shop and ask them if they can come down on the sticker price. You should be able to get them to knock $50-100 off sticker price.

Cabellas has the 899 for $870. Don't forget to send the mail in rebate for the terrova. And I considered buying an anchor online but after some googling of the store I found how bad customer service/return/ prompt shipping and even fraudulent products came from that store and was not rated buy the better business bureau. I went with more mainstream vendors for my purchases and I got a new 101 link for $1300 based on it was discontinued but will be repairable for 10 years.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
Got the Ipilot Link system and decided to go with the 999 HD/SI unit to avoid the transducer swap out issue.
Looking forward to getting this stuff out on the lake...
Oh, For future reference, the Ethernet cable that comes with the Ipilot link is 30' long..
