Posts: 251 | Is it over kill to use Seafoam and Stabil? I was always under the impression that seafoam cleaned your motor and stabil kept the fuel from going bad.

Posts: 675 Location: Twin Cities, MN | I use Quickleen and Startron with each fill up. Might be overkill, but I had previous issues with bad corn gas so I get corn free gas and stabilize everything that I run's though my Optimax.

Posts: 859 Location: MN | I use yamaha products as it's a new motor and required. But sea foam is great use it in everything else. Just used 2+ old gas in weed trimmer yesterday. I had put a little sea foam in years ago and then put a bit in before use. Started 2nd pull.

Posts: 5874 | I ran Merc Quickleen during the year in my Opti's, and also added Stabil Marine in the fall. My last 200 Opti had the same plugs for 5 years, and they looked good when I sold it. New owner is probably still running them 3 years later! And I ran 87 Octane with ethanol, per the owners manual. Never had an issue. When I did my year end storage preps, I never got more than a drop or two of water from the separator.

Posts: 859 Location: MN | Not a plug but Ring free is a great product no matter your motor. Not a fuel stabilizer. It can be used in 2 stroke motors as well.

Posts: 1202 Location: Money, PA | The best fuel stabilizer is USING ETHANOL FREE FUEL....There are places out there that sell the stuff, especially on the water. Realistically though, I have used Stabil Marine for the most part....

Posts: 162 Location: Metro, MN | Johnson/Evinrude 2+4 hands down. Been using it on my yami for 15 years and never once had a motor issue. She still fires and runs like day 1! I've spoken with several mechanics in the boat industry and they said its much better than stabil for a variety of reasons.

Posts: 46 | Most stabilizers are bottled up antioxidant material that fuel refineries use to extend shelf life to pump gas, so those products have one temporary benefit. Sea Foam is a combo of highly refined petroleum oils that dissolve gum and varnish, clean fuel deposits, stabilizes, and lubricates all the way through the exhaust stroke. There’s a lot more bang for your buck, it’s harmless, and it flat out works! Check out this video on fuel stabilization: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ3pfwIgijk
