So my panther lift for my kicker just "clicks" when I press the up or down on the switch. I've located the source of the "click" there are (2) Hella relay(s) mounted to a piece of plastic but this piece was not mounted to anything (located in the main wire/cable run in the stern of a ranger) - I look up the part number on the relay and I cant find a part like the attached picture just a single relay. do relays just go bad?.. or do I have other issues? thanks for your help! (I hate electrical issues-ha!)

the plug with the green, blue, red wire on it. is that down stream from the power source and relay? if yes, unplug it, put a voltage meter on it and hit the up/down switch. Got power or readings on the volt meter? yes? relay good. relays do click but can go bad.

If a relay clicks it means the solenoid inside it is biasing. However, there is a good chance the contacts are charred. Check with a voltmeter at the panther lift for voltage. Just guessing, you will need to see at least 10 or 11 volts to get any movement.

thanks guys, ended up just being a dirty/corroded connection right near the electric motor (on the lift) that was throwing me for a loop...

Justin, I looked at your photo - thats a manufactured sub assemby, the tray and relays are "potted" to make them water proof. The only way to replace one relay is probably by buying the whole subassembly from the manufacturer.

Here's a link for individual replacement relays. But, I wouldn't recommend it unless you know what your are doing. The real goal is making the assembly waterproof, it looks like the connectors are water/moisture proof too. Water & electrical connections don't mix very well, e.g., your corrosion problem.

If the corroded connection is in a hard to get to area, I would recommend coating it completely with some silicone grease to waterproof it. I also do this with my battery terminals when I clean them every spring.

Have fun!

Al
