A heads up to all downloading Lowrance updates on a MAC.

I just found out the hard way after hours of trying to update the version 4.0 firmware on my HDS 10 Gen 2 unit.
For hours I was trying to get the 4.0 update to load to my Lowrance unit.....no dice. Then I read the HDS10 Gen2 unit cannot recognize the update and then load it, if downloaded using Chrome....only Safari.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE FROM LOWRANCE USING CHROME BROWSER!
If you use Chrome regularly, just switch over to Safari for this one download. Once you do that it will load to your unit perfectly.

Right, when did fishing get so complicated? I've had some issues in the past with these software updates as well. Even this time I had to try different SD cards before the 4.0 update would load.

I was kind of lucky that I remembered which SanDisk SD card I used for the last update and it worked perfect after rejecting other properly formatted SD cards... sometimes this stuff is just a big mystery to me.

I'll be saving that SD card for the next update when the touch HDS will supposedly alert the user when a new update is available. Then, it will supposedly automatically update once that same SD card is reinserted within range of wireless internet.

According to the Lowrance website; with this 4.0 update all gen2 touch will perform close to the gen3.
