I'm thinking about fishing the Mille Lacs tourny on the 2nd and 3rd of August. This would be my first tournament, and even with my lack of musky experience, I think it would be very fun. Anyone have any basic tips for fishing the tourny and prefishing?

Thanks,
MJB

Get up to that lake a week early or weekend and hire a guide for the first day to teach you about the water and patterns that are working. Then the rest of the week you can put together a game plan for the tournament. Listen to the guide, ask lots of questions and talk with the local bait shops about patterns, baits, locations and other helpfull tips that they will give out. Talk with other people that are on the lake or at the launch, you will be surprised at what you can pick up when you are friendly to all you meet. Fishing is a buisness for some, they want you to catch fish so you will come back again. Good luck in the tournament, you will have fun and learn things fishing it.
