Location: Almond, WI | For the guys who troll really big stuff like Headlocks, what is your preferred setup--rod, reel, and line? I'm just concerned that a standard trolling setup might not take the extra pull. Right now I have a Shimano TDR 8' heavy action rod, an Okuma linecounter, and 40lb Trilene Big Game as my standard trolling setup. |

Location: Canada | You should be fine with that set up - I would go to a 60lb big game (typically what I use) or even an 80lb mono (I believe Stren makes this?). |

Location: Sycamore, IL | I've trolled my headlock on the 8' HVY TDR for years with no problems. I run them on braid with 4' 130lb fluoro leaders and use Diawa saltist LC reels. I got a Thorne Bros rod for XMAS that will be my new big bait trolling rod, but the TDR should be just fine. |
