What are your thoughts on this reel? Is it worth the money? and also would you suggest power handle or no power handle?

save up for a tranx or buy a Toro. Every Lexa I have worked on needs parts after very minimal use. The pinion yoke is worn out on a friends reel after only a week, yes a WEEK, of use.

I was think about the lexa 400 and almost bought one, ended up getting a revo toro winch.

Best of luck with whatever reel you choose, they all can break.

I don't own one, but I used one briefly last fall. I didn't like it because the levelwind disengages during the cast causing it to jump then shake back and forth while the lure is in the air. Otherwise it was smooth and pulled blades relatively well. Can't speak for durability/longevity.

I bought one but haven't used it yet. Seems like a decent reel for the price @ $178 on eBay. I bought the 6:3 for rubber. I don't like the large power handle they have. If you take care of it I think the reel will perform fine. I didn't want to use my Nacl just to chuck rubber so that's why I bought it. I have 2 Nacls so I should know in a few months if I wasted my money. If its going to be your only reel then I would look at buying a 5:4 Nacl. Good luck with whatever you buy.

I have the 6.3:1 and love the way it fits in my hand. With that said, I'm left with the impression that I'm getting what I paid for. Toro's don't fit right in my hand. Hoping Shimano steps up and turns the 400D into a mini-Tranx.

I used and abused mine all last season and never had any issues with it. Its been my go to for certain situations. That being said, I also love my 2 nacl reels. No power handle on my lexa.

I love mine. So much so that I just picked up another 400hsp. I have 2 300hsp's with 2 seasons on them and 1 400hsp with a full season of bucktail use and its going strong as day 1. Sometimes I feel that some people are just simply hard on their gear. Ive got buddies that have 0 issues with their lexas. If i had one complaint, its the disengaging levelwind.

Tranx is great performance wise, but after half a season of throwing 9/10 bucktails i needed to have it serviced because of a bearing that was very loose. you could grab the handle and jiggle it back and forth. After that repair I got rid of it, not something I expected after a couple months of use on a $500 reel.

For the money its a decent reel, but for my money the NACL is a much better buy. Im convinced after trying LEXAs Tranx, Curados, NACLs, the best all around low profile muskie reel is the NACL 5.4.

How is this reel for casting lighter baits with the disengage levelwind? I'm looking at this reel for double 8's or less and 8" crankbaits. So in that 2.5-3 oz or less category. I have been going back and forth between this and the NACL and the only reason I'm thinking of the lexa is for the 33" retrieve.

I don't have any problems throwing double 8's or single Mepps Musky Marabous

I bought one, and used it last Fall. I gave it to a friend who needed a good reel, not wanting to separate with any of my NACL models. I liked it, but not as well as my 60s. Honestly, the Okuma Komodo is still in my rotation, too.
