Subject: Suicks in the spring

Does anybody throw suicks in the spring with much success? It seems like a bait that would work well over new weeds and could be an easy meal for more lethargic fish.

Suicks are thrown in my boat all year, off and on, from 7" to 10".

I usually throw the small Wades Wobblers (about 6" I think) with some success in the spring--they have an action not to different from a suick, but lack the flashy tail

We work them much, much slower in the Spring. Works, too.

I like using 7" perch suicks early in the year. Great pike and musky bait.

I will throw the smaller Suicks in the spring. 7"ers in a crappie, perch, walleye or sucker patterns. One thing that I have discovered however, is that you will probably want to add a little weight to the smaller Suicks. Waters are normally very clear in the spring, and you will want to get slightly more depth out of your baits than you normally would want. Good luck!

Moved a 45-46 with a black sucker 9" suick last sunday over open water.....though I don't think this applies.

Suicks don't work whatever the time of year or whatever the size. This being said, everyone should send me their Suicks so I can use them for kindling to help heat the local orphans home.......hee..hee.hee...........

I throw Suicks all year long, I like the weighted ones more for the Spring because they will suspend in the strike zone.

E,

Your loss, man. The Suick has accounted for LOTS of good fish for me, and works in heavy cover, cabbage, wood, or the open.

ANY up and down bait is probably one of the few lures you could throw all year with great sucess.0723
