I need you guys opinons on this. I just recently got the Musky Rocket and it has a Mercury 150 EFI, my other boat which I hope will become my prevous boat had a 115 97 or 96 Evinrude Intruder and I had no problems with using it for some trolling, I would periodically clean and change the spark plugs during the season, I guess my question is would I be doing harm to the Mercury? I have the time to clean plugs. Your thoughts would be very helpful? Thanks, Al

Al,

I am not a technician and my best advice would be to call several reputable Merc. dealers in your area and get the advice of the service manager.

From personal expereience and "word on the street" I have found that the larger EFI's were not intended for long periods of idle running, occassional trolling shouldn't hurt it but if trolling is your primary method of fishing then it would probably be suggested to invest in a kicker motor.
