| I will be making the trip to Canada to musky hunt. I'll be going for 5 days and would like to boat a decent number of fish, while having a shot at a trophy. I'll hire a guide for 2 days to put me on the fish right away. My question is if you could make 1 trip to Canada where would you go and why? Also what time of year do you suggest? I'm not concerned with cost or travel time, just want to go to the best lake at the best time. Thanks! |

| If you want to spend money on a guide, I'd go to Andy Myer's on Eagle. Not numbers, but some of the best guides in the business and you will hit the ground running with a shot at a truly giant fish. I wouldn't go to canada for anything but big fish. The pressure on Eagle is not bad, however there's more pressure there for muskie per acre than most other waters in Canada. But if you want to fish with a guide and have a shot at a big fish, I'm not sure there is a better place to go. There are some camps on LOTW that offer more seclusion with better numbers, but not the stable of muskie guides and as large-on-average size fish. |

| what is... "boat a decent number of fish" and what is a "trophy" to you? That's different for everyone.... If you want to have a legit shot at 15- 20 fish in 5 days with a shot at a 50" - LOTW is tough to beat. If cost and travel time doesn't matter, I'd get a guide for 5 days on the Ottawa River and have a shot at a fish of a lifetime! |

| Wave enough money at a reputable guide on a reputable lake in Ontario anywhere from July - October, and they'll get you what you want. |

Herbies guides will usually put you on big numbers imo. Getting them to eat is entirely up to you... I would highly recommend them along with some others on Eagle. |

Location: Minnetonka MN | Checkout Tamarack Island Wilderness Lodge which is a 6 mile boat ride west of Morson. Todd and his family are top notch hosts. The resort is in the middle of prime musky waters. http://www.tamarackislandwildernesslodge.com
Our group of 6 with two boats caught 11 muskies in 5 days, and plenty of walleye for dinners. Largest was a 49.5". |
