Posts: 1275 Location: Walker, MN | I have the 8'6" XH as well. I really only used it once all of last season. It's tip heavy and hard to hold. Not my favorite either. For the money, an Okuma EVX or TI is the way to go me thinks.

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I agree with the ninja. I to am actually going to pick up a new Okuma Rod. My buddy had one and was throwing two pounders with it. Handles pounders like butter and still has a soft enough tip to cast lighter blades too. TI rods are awesome! I used to own two, now I just have one. but I like them a lot. Go with the XXH though if you do go TI. But either way you will get far more rod then what you payed, both are great options. But there are hundreds of good options out there, just depends on what you are "specifically" looking for.

Posts: 357 Location: Western U.P. | Have an 8' (3/4-4 oz) paired with a NaCl 50, and the 8'6" paired with a NaCl 60. Like them both a lot, and have had no problems with either of them. I enjoy using the 8' combo for small to medium baits, and the 8'6" for anything else (I don't throw pounders). Have caught quite a few fish on both, and based on my experience, would recommend them. If you do a search, you should find a couple other discussions about these that can give you more info.

Posts: 32934 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have the entire selection of Volatile muskie rods. I like them fine just fine, had no issues with them at all, and didn't find them at all 'hard to hold on to'. I would like the handle to be a little longer, but didn't see it as a problem. You can extend the length with a Bass Pro Shops rod balancer. I certainly didn't find the rods 'tip heavy' paired with an NACL. Fished them all year and caught a number of fish on 'em. FAT SKi, which Volatile rod do you have?

Posts: 865 | Thanks for the Info guys....well appreciated ...... I may try one this spring as I like shorter handles and I have a few weighted butt slip on units if needed .. Steve I do remember now that you said you had one and liked it ... Thanks Mike

Posts: 1283 | Get a shock and awe and cast anything to want. I gave my big dawg to my brother I like the shock and awe that much. TI xxh is wicked too but I like the thickness of the handle on the shock and awe better

Posts: 865 | I have a TI XXHvy already, a SlingBlade, and a few other St Croix rods But I wanted a smaller rod that matched up well with a extra Revo Nacl 61 that I have this looked like a nice smaller bucktail smaller bait rod...

Posts: 62 Location: Minnetonka MN | The Volatile is a surprisingly good rod. Very lightweight and seems to be pretty high-tech from the specs. We picked one up at the MN Musky Expo for $20 with the purchase of the NACL. Awesome deal!
