I need to get a new locater and would like some opinions on side imaging. Is it a must have feature, if I only get one unit bow or console, I don't troll. Does the transducer have to be mounted externally, if so where on a ranger hull are you mounting it?

thanks,
Kirk

Pretty sure external. What I learned is the HSD side scan are networkable. So you can run multiple units on one transducer or display GPS on multiple screens. Chirp and HDI won`t do that although they still have NEMA. So that's something else to consider.
