I have one of these and the first time i used it i casted and the power handle engaged and it bent the rod that goes to the spool. Is that something that might be a warrenty issue?

You'd have to contact Diawa to be sure.

Make sure to cast with the power handle knob facing down towards the ground, or facing back paralled with the rod butt. Power handles won't engage then.

It's surprising that reel companies don't write anything about this in the manual.

also turn on all the spool brakes so U can keep your thumb on the Thumb Cast Bar during the cast.
