Location: New Jersey | Just wondering if anyone has issues with their PG Tranx. I'm about to send it back to get serviced for the 3rd time in 2 years because of issues with the clutch half-engaging on the cast and making a horrible grinding noise and the reel feeling like it's not very smooth on the retrieve. I just had it sent back in June, and I got a ton of use and a bunch of fish in the fall but still didn't feel like it was working right. Figured I'd send it back now over the winter while I don't need it and was curios to know if anyone had similar issues. I've had no issues with my HG and you would think a $500 reel wouldn't have these kind of issues.

Location: Duluth, MN | Had the same issue with mine after one season. In its defense though it got the hell beat out of it. Sent it to PIKEMASTER on this forum and it has been fine since. |

| Start holding the thumbbar down during the cast, once you get i back  engaging mid cast is not good for the reel.

| Had the same thing happen to me my first season. Honestly I don't think it's an issue unique to the tranx. I think it's a powerhandle issue. it would likely go away if you had a monster paddle handle.
It only happened when I was trying to work too fast and wasn't focused. Outside of that, it's the most trouble-free muskie reel I've used/owned. It's bullet proof. Just don't let the spool engage on the cast. |

Location: Detroit River | It sounds like you might of had issues with the reel engaging on the cast? This is common with reels that have power handles. In the future keep the thumb bar pushed down during the cast & also casting with the reel handle pointed down will help with preventing the reel from engaging on the cast.

Location: New Jersey | Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll pay more attention to having the handle down and keeping the thumb bar down and see how that goes. I think next service I'm gonna reach out to PIKEMASTER regardless. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | YES Non - Counter Weight handles will cause the reel to engauge during cast.
On the TRANX if that is happing then I hated say but it is how U R casting. On right hand reels keep the handle pointed up during the cast, on left hand reel you keep the handle pointed down and make sure U don't touch the handle during the cast. Keep your thumb on the cast bar during the cast and there is no way the reel will engauge during the cast. Set the spool brakes with 5-6 brakes on, so U won't have to thumb the spool during the cast.

Any reels I get now should be back by March sometime |

| Pike master I have an issue with a lexa not being able to engage turning the handle after the cast have to push the thumbar down harder than it engages was like that when I bought it. What's the solution? Thanks |

I would send it back to Daiwa
I can fix it but I will have to charge you for all the parts that are broken, maybe Daiwa will give you a break ????
Do you push down on the thumb bar when fighting a fish so you can thumb the spool ???? if you do stop, use the drag on the reel. |

The Tranx nothing it is a TANK.
The Curado E or DSV I can upgrade the drags to Carbontex $14.00
and add a bearing to the drive shaft on the DSV for $12.00
Don't wait I'm out about a month right now and in March I'll be out 2-3 months. |

Yes the spool tips and the spool shaft, and the ratchet washer. |
