Random quote: Muskies are nasty. They stink. They taste bad. They are hard to catch and will disappoint even the most devoted angler. The lures required cost more than some women's jewelry. The rods and reels require a remortgage of the house. The boat is always worth more than the tow vehicle. Sure beats the hell out of golf.

I just finished this 22 inch / 27 ounce jointed Walleye crankbait. It's the largest bait I've made to date, and I'd say it's pretty unique. I've taken a liking to making these huge baits, and really seeing what I can build!

I've been thinking about trying to build some larger baits and yours is an inspiration.
Love your painting style.

Wow is right. Are these used for fishing or novelty? Would be cool to see it in the water. Don't lose it as it may end up in a walleye fisherman's livewell.

Great topcoat finish, and shaped really nice like a walleye. I would definitely slow troll that bait. On M.L. many huge musky go after big walleyes when a walleye is being reeled in caught by walleye fishermen

Thanks everyone!
This one has a complicated, but super tough trough wire construction, floats belly down, and dives to about 4 feet. You can fish it / troll it if you have strong enough tackle for sure. I always make lures that you can fish with. I'm trying to make 1 of these huge jointed baits about once a month, and I'm mostly thinking about what would serve best as something you'd show off, or display. I've noticed the main question I get when people see theses baits in person is "What kind of fish are you supposed to catch with that?!" lol

Marling, what kind of wire are you using? Why not use Single Strand SS?

The wire is two lengths of .061 twisted together. I chuck one end of the two wires up in my hand drill, and put the other end in my bench vise and twist the wires till they're tight. I do this because when I install the wire I bed the whole thing in fiberglass, and the twists really give the fiberglass something to hold on to.
Sorry, no video for this one.. I was working on a different "bait making" video for a 10" crankbait at the same time I was finishing up this one.
