I am beginning to plan for a summer trip to Vermillion during the full moon in July next summer. I have never been to the lake and was hoping for some information in regards to water clarity, temperature to expect, etc. I don't expect anyone to share fishing spots as I understand those are secret, but any information on the lake or recommendations would be helpful.

I haven't picked a resort and in the previous posts on this site there was some great information on several of the lodges. At this time I am more focused on comparing the East end VS the West end and once I know the area I would prefer to target and structure I am comfortable driving to then I will find a place to sleep.

I already purchased a good lake map and have begun to dissect it. So far it seems there is an abundance of good water...

Thanks in advance for any help you are willing to give.

Seriously, just fish every Buoy on the Lake...... 2-3 times a day...
Maybe hit some weedy areas at dusk using Topwater.. Blades on the rocks.
Watch others... Full Moon, July is super busy.... Get in line.
The week days are not as busy as the weekend.

If you see a gray haired guy in an american flag/eagle wrapped skeeter, follow him around. If you don't follow him, flip him the bird and call him some names just for the fun of it.

I like the West end as you do not have to worry about the wind as much. I have stayed at Spring Bay Resort and they have great accommodations and are great people. Caught my 1st and only 50"er there on the West end. Don't think they have the boat traffic there as much as the East end. Steve from Spring Bay can put you on some fish.

Dittos on Spring Bay. Great folks and a nice resort. My concern with the west side of Vermilion is numbers of fish. When I was there in September it was like fishing the Dead Sea. A few pike and eater perch. No muskies. No walleyes. Those were an hour away. Don't know why, but it seems the fish have migrated east.
