thanks Al...

you may be a savant - or at a minimum have plenty of experience. when i looked at under some better light today, i saw a couple of wires which looked like they may have been nibbled on. however, they're on the opposite side of the motor from where she was making noise before it went "pop."

very generous of you, and i'll take you up on your offer and try to give you a call tonight. i've been wanting to meet you anyway since we're practically neighbors.
