Thanks Muskysaloon! I have a Recon 985 that I just upgraded to the 200 Pro XS from previously having the 200 Optimax. So far I too love everything about this new Pro XS, but I'm having a little trouble getting the prop dialed in. Currently with a 19 pitch Tempest Plus I'm only turning 5750 RPM and 54 MPH. With the Pro XS's RPM range being between 5600 - 6200, I'm at the low end. I should be able to get better numbers. But, already being at a 19 pitch I'm hesitant to go lower because all the calculators tell me that going lower in pitch will result in a loss of top end speed.

Also, with the Optimax I was running a 21 pitch and turning 5650 RPM with a top speed of 56 MPH. The Optimax proper RPM range is 5250 - 5750, so I was at the top end there. It just seems weird to me that being 2" of pitch lower now, I am only seeing 100 extra RPM. Two different motors I know, but same HP and gear ratio. If anything the Pro XS should be slightly more actual HP due to it being a high output motor. I'm perplexed why I have to go so low in pitch. Theoretically, based on what "they" say the effects on RPM by changing pitches is, I need to go down to 17 pitch to get my RPM's over 6000.

Your and my boat are very close to the same size and weight. Different hulls and aluminum versus glass, but still similar.
