The D size ram ball is solid, you can put a wrench on the wing nut or you can take the wing nut off and replace with a standard nut and use a socket wrench to tighten it. You can tighten it till you deform the ball, I am 260 pounds and have literally stood on my sonar mounted on a ram ball mount to sight fish spawning bass. And it doesn't move, vibrate or jiggle sure but if it ain't round it can't move.
