I have a circuit breaker in line with my trolling motor and always turn it off when docking or pulling the boat out of the water. Over time the circuit breaker will go bad and I will have to replace it due to premature tripping. Be wary of a plug that you are always plugging and unplugging. Over time it, too, can become loose and you will have a connection that can cause a voltage drop and heat.
