| I have been using Yamaha outboards since 1990. The only reason that I have had two was because I upgraded my boat from a Tuffy Esox to a Tuffy Esox Magnum. It has been great to use, and still "smokes" similar sized motors and boats which are much newer than mine, the little that I push the throttle past half in the couple of tournaments I fish each year.
The Yamahas tend to be a little pricy if you are looking for strictly low dollar. In your position I would be looking at what service centers are around your home, as well as reputations they may have. There are many good brands available. Are you close enough to the ocean think about a saltwater option?
