Spongy,
I have had both Honda and Yamaha and think they are both a good motor. Honda has been around forever and are tried and true. Newer 4-stroke motors in my opinion need to be a little better than a honda in order to sell them. Why by something that is as good as a Honda and is new when you could by a Honda that has a proven record.
I had a 100 hp Yamaha last year and this year I have the 115 EFI. Both forstroke and both tillers. The 115 Yamaha weighs a lot less than the Honda and is EFI.The EFI is awesome, no choke, no cranking, not temperature senistive, quality motor. Yamaha RPM's are 700-800. Yamaha comes with a 3-year warranty. Put that baby on a Tuffy 1990 Esox Deep V and your ready to roll.
