Had some lower unit oil spill on my boat carpet while in storage over the winter. Carpet is dark gray so the stain isn’t so bad. It’s the smell I can’t get rid of.

All I had at the cabin this weekend I was able to use was a scrub brush with some Dawn dish soap and warm water.

Was fine while it was still wet with the soap but once it dried the smell was back and same as before.

Any tips/tricks to get the gear oil smell out of the boat carpet???

Thanks - Midge
