Several reasons, none of which have much to do with production. They ARE making that product. Orders for V6/V8 engines are running really high and have been for months, Mercury Marine's/Brunswick Boat group sales are going very strong.

There were thousands of boats destroyed in storms and floods across the country and around the World over the last couple seasons, and those are being replaced by insurance companies with the usual lag time. Couldn't get a Yamaha big bore for a looooong time as a result, they suffer the same issues. I know some folks who jumped to Evinrude due to the fact they could get one and it's a well built engine....they all are these days.
