I bought a new to me rig a few years back late 90's ranger without a keel guard on it and put a megaware keel guard on it. It been good and offers some good protection. Very easy to self install as it came with good instructions on how to clean and prep the hull. There is no doubt Hamby's makes an excellent product but there are other good products out there as well.

Agreed. I haven't gotten around to putting one on yet but I have read about several brands. The bassboat guys rave about a couple different ones (I forget the specific brands.) While Hamby's is the most well-known and no doubt a great product, I'll be installing either a Keelshield or Keel Guard for half the price. Good luck.
