anyone no much about the regular etec 90hp 3 cylinder??

No, I don't know much about them. The Merc guys will say go with a Merc, the Yamaha guys will say go with a Yamaha, etc.

But it sure is hard to beat a 10 year warranty. In addition there is no break in period for the Etec. Just take it home and use it. Also, no service of any kind required for three years.

And wait until you winterize it.....the last time you use it for the season prior to loading it onto the trailer, you go through a sequence of turning the key on and off and pushing the throttle between forward and neutral. The process literally takes less than two minutes. All done, nothing else to do!

And these aren't like the two strokes of old. They are extremely clean and quiet. And you don't have to mix oil and gas like the old ones. You will have an external oil tank.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Etec. This is my opinion. The next guy will say that I am off my rocker and crazy. Buy it, enjoy it and don't have any regrets. And now you have a dealer a few minutes away rather than having to drive six hours each way.

I wasn't an Evinrude guy either and was pretty set on a Merc, Yamaha or Suzuki, depending upon the dealer that I decided on. But a new Ranger with an Etec on the back happened to follow me home in November. I can't wait to get it out for the first time. In all honesty, I am as excited about that motor as I am the boat.

In reality you really can't go wrong with any of them, Merc, Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude or Honda. There are plenty of good and bad stories of each. Go out and fish and enjoy your new rig.
