It was definitely manageable but hydraulic steering really helps at low speeds and rough water when you don't want to trim up to the sweet spot. I mainly got it for convenience, jigging/Lindy rigging for walleyes, trolling, etc. Its extremely nice to be able to take your hand off the tiller handle and not have it flop everywhere. I've had power steering in the past and have run boats with hydraulic steering but this will be the first time it's on a boat I own.
