I have a 165 Dominator which is very close to what you are looking at and have also been in the boat that you have. The 165 competitor in better laid out and more stable than what you are in. I have been in up to 4 ft waves with mine. It handled them just fine. As for as getting wet when casting. I have only got wet one time and I was fishing in some bad stuff where I was just cranking because you couldn't work a lure. A 21 ft boat I would have been doing the same. The alumacrafts are very wide. I have a 90HP on mine. I would recommend going as big as you can with the motor. Mine goes about 42-43 mph
