I am not familiar with the models you are looking at, however I did own a Ranger boat for a long time. Probably the nicest boat out there, and I would highly recommend the Evinrude E tec. I currently run Evinrude E tec and it is fast, does not smoke, smooth, quiet, and without a doubt the fastest outboard available. Not to mention it has the best and longest warranty.
