It’s easy. You provide him with a receipt. He needs paperwork to prove there is no lien on the boat and trailer. He needs the trailer registration/ownership too. The trailer must have proper vin info sticker on it.
He stops at border on way over to declare his cash and intent to buy your boat. He then stops on way home to pay HST plus a 200$ trailer registration fee.
