Tucker is correct, that’s what probably needs to be done. Wire it in series, install a higher rated plug, 60 amp breaker, we used 4 gage (because that is what the amp draw versus run length chart) speced out, never guess. Crimp and soldier all the connections.

I also did one more thing. I installed a very heavy duty marine grade on/off switch between the + & - connection so I can kill the power when I am charging. The reason you want to kill the power when you are charging is to prevent a voltage spike (that can happen anytime the line voltage to your charger drops and then bounce back up. This can be caused by a storm, well pump, refrigerator, etc.) from hitting the trolling motor which can wipe out the mother board.

So it is very important you kill the power to your TM when you are charging.

I also installed that same shutoff switch on my big motor so I can kill the power to the power trim so it doesn’t accidentally activate and burn up. But that’s another thread....

Several of us have done this upgrade, it will cost roughly $200 but it will be rock solid.
