Honest opinion, Yes, I would. I would also be sure to order disc brakes, not the older style drum brakes.
I have a rig that falls into that same weight class....2960 lbs. to be exact, (I had it weighed because I was curious.) I tow with a 2014 Ford F150.
The brakes never worked with my old trailer. Now that I have the new trailer, I am very pleased with how it handles with the new brakes and I feel that the little bit of maintenance is well worth the price.
