I have seen in-line fuses can be problematic at turn on. There is a large inrush current at turn on- more in larger units. Any type of in-line resistance will cause voltage drop. I had problems with the spring loaded, cylindrical in-line kind. To remedy this both times, I coated the fuse contacts with Vaseline. This got me up and running both times. I have never had issues with the blade type automotive fuses though. Much better contact pressure on those fuse-holders.
Good stuff to know, thanks. My nmea network runs off the inline you describe. Unfortunately my Lowrance power cord set up has the blade type, so that shouldn't be the issue. |
