Also a PA guy here. I run a 2006 SeaArk Outlaw skimmer 1860 powered by a 1999 Mercury 45 jet. The boat came fully carpeted with a large rod locker. Last year I completely stripped the carpet and removed that locker. I repainted the hull with 3 coats of interlux brightside one part poly. The interior has 2 coats of poly and is topped with Kiwigrip.
I usually see 28-31 mph depending on direction of travel and wind. This year I added a splash plate to the transom. The rockproof intake throws a lot of water. The homemade plate seems to help direct water into the jet and decrease on plane time.
