Stop using one and get a motor lock device instead. You don't need to "save" your transom on modern boats by transferring energy to the trailer. So, the device needs to secure your motor in place against bounce and flop.

I use the Pro Rule version paired with centering clips, but there are lots of options. Way easier to put on and off each time, and very effective. Most major brands are coming with these now rather than a traditional transom saver.
