Running a G3 HP180 with a 225 opti jet. Basically an aluminum bass boat with a jet on it. Stepped hull on the boat is great as I don't have to worry about the slide like coondog mentioned. My rig is a bit on the heavy side and cuts through a decent chop pretty well. It does draft a little more at slower speeds than most, but wide open it only needs about 6" or so. I agree that I am more comfortable running in 12" or so, but on sections of the river I know well I routinely run skinnier.
