Gman- I don't think the 25 HP is worth it. I bought an X-190 earlier this year and I went out of my way to get a F175 over the 4-stroke Merc 150. I agonized over the decision and I ultimately thought that I didn't want to go at 75% of the max HP and I kept thinking about top end speed. If I had to do it over again I would get the Mercury 150. Both for the savings and the ease of convenience since I had to jockey between a Tuffy dealer and a separate Yamaha dealer. Somebody asked about a Verado? With the digital controls it cost 6K to go from a 150 4-stroke to a 200 Verado. That ended that conversation.

The speed just doesn't matter to me. I find my going 35-40 mi/hr as my normal cruising speed. Sure, when I got the boat I went 55+ a couple times but I haven't been at WOT in a couple months. I just can't justify the cost to be able to get an extra 3-5 mi/hr top end. I know people will talk about resale and max HP, blah, blah, blah but the reality is that the Pro V Bass is not a go-fast boat and there are a lot of those being sold with a 150 on them so I wouldn't worry about resale. I wonder the number of them being sold with 150 vs 200. I don't know what you are used to riding in but 50 mi/hr on the water is fast enough for me. Those are both awesome engines. Good luck with whatever you choose.
