Subject: Alumacraft 185 competitor tiller rod locker? And owners thoughts on boat?

I was wondering if the 8 ft measurement alumacraft put on their rod locker is accurate, i have a couple 8 6 rods that i was hoping to fit in them or is there a way to modify the rod lockers, i know sometimes you can fit a little longer rods in the top racks of the locker. Im currently looking a little at prices and it seems like the 185 competitor is a whole lot of boat for the money but the rod locker maybe the deal breaker because i hate having 500$ combos on the decks for towing. Basically there are alot of nice 18 ft tillers, i like the pro guide 1875, and tuffy 1890, but from what i see the alumacraft has the best price and seems like a nice boat as well. Even the alumacraft 175 maybe a contender because that huge beam gives you a ton of room. Thanks in advance and lets not make it a fiberglass vs aluminum debate alot of good boats of both types now adays, but the savings of alumacraft can get me some nice electronics and a just encase box
